For beginners, triathlon training should be aimed at a shorter distance race - nearly always a run triathlon. Sometimes you may also find a newb triathlon advertised in your area. Today races fill up pretty fast, so pick a race and sign up now ( this could also give you a goal race to keep you committed ). Come up with a triathlon training plan.
So the following step is to discover a pool where you can train. If you'll find one with a swim coach or experts swimming program that is perfect. Otherwise, try and get a more experienced triathlete or authorized triathlon coach to help. You will find several extra swimming tips here on my site. Deciding to become a triathlete is a great goal to have. Though after completing all of your noob triathlon training, the swimming, the biking and the running - you are still not a triathlete till you've finished a race. There are lots of factors to consider when selecting a first triathlon.
Not all triathlon distances are equal . The shortest distance is known as a sprint triathlon. This is generally the very best choice for amateurs. But for those athletes who aren't accomplished in all 3 disciplines and don't have plenty of time to coach, the run distance makes the most sense for their first triathlon.
If the race is early in the season, there is a better chance of foul whether and cold water temperatures on race day. It's definitely possible to do a triathlon early in the season, but be prepared for a cold morning, or swim that might require a wetsuit. Some race directors promote their races with the amateur in mind by having separate awards and classifications for those participating in their first triathlon. These races make a special point of friendly the new triathletes and recognizing what they have accomplished. Also consider how much support and how many volunteers a race has. Stuff like aid stations and course marshals make the race additional safe and more comfortable for the 1st time triathlete.
Practice laying out your gear beforehand and get a packing list together a week prior. Spend a little time practicing your swim in open water if you can. Swimming in open water is very different than swimming in a pool. There will be hands and feet all over the place. Generally they're going to start the race in shifts and you do not want to miss your group's starting time. Make sure you've got a way to transport your cycle. A friend and I are trying to raise money for a local boy who has recently become paralyzed from the waist down. We are trying to put money together to donate to him and his family, who aren't well off, and give to them to help with medicine and such. The problem is that we don't know how to raise this money and need some ideas. We will be doing this as a donation from our student run Triathlon team. Any ideas how we can get some easy, preferably free, ways to raise money for this family?

how can you break into ski-cross racing? (Answers: 1) (Comments: 1)
this sport rocks! i've never seen it before. but it seems as though races are only held at the world cup or X-games level. in most sports -- swimming, running, triathlon, slalom skiing, etc. -- you can achieve times in the 30th or 50th percentile relative to the world champion and still find a good local race to enter and develop your skills at. does such a thing exist in ski-cross?

has anyone ever seen tan through bike / running / triathlon clothes? where? would you use it for these sports? (Answers: 3) (Comments: 0)
i'm trying to find companies that make this type of product, so if you know the name of the maker that would be perfect... otherwise, even just letting me know when and where you saw it would be great! also, i know not everyone is into outdoor sports, but if you were, would you wear tan through grear to avoid tan lines on your back, chest, hands, etc? thank you!!
