Half Marathon Plan
If you've run a few road races, you are probably eying races that will be more challenging for you. A half is a good distance for road runners, and the half marathon plan of training will not be as vigorous as the training regimen for a full marathon. You will need to train properly for your upcoming half marathon. You should not just run the race, but you should have fun doing it, as well. Otherwise you will find it to be very unpleasant and difficult.
If you work well within schedules and a structured plan, there are various half marathon programs to help you train. If you do better without a set schedule, you may want to work within a training program that is more unstructured. The half marathon plan of training is also used for training for 10 and 20K races.
One popular novice half training program begins with runners who can already accomplish 3-mile runs a few times a week. It is built within a schedule of twelve weeks, and it includes long runs weekly starting out at three miles and gradually working up to ten miles a week. You may also incorporate four days that have shorter distance runs, and strength workouts, and one rest day. The week before your first half marathon, plan to have a tapering schedule and two days of rest. Your running pace should be such that you can easily converse with a training partner.
Some trainers also advocate walking breaks that will allow you to work your way up to longer distances, and the running days at the same conversational pace. You'll learn ways to determine the proper pace for you, how much walking to do as well as running, and how much to slow down on very warm days.
A training program for a half marathon may include one long run day and two days of easy running. The longer runs may begin at three miles and then you can work your way up to 14 miles. The longest run is done two weeks before your target race, to allow for the two weeks of tapered training before the big race. On the other days, you will be resting, cross-training or walking.
By contrast, some programs have you start with six to seven miles and work your way to 11 or 12 miles, also allowing the last two weeks before your target race for tapering. This particular program is set up for those who can run 6 miles already, or those who have already finished 10K races.

What's a cool town to visit close to Civitaveccia? (Answers: 1) (Comments: 0)
We'll be in Civitaveccia in January on a cruise & are deciding not to go into Rome. We are very familiar with using the train system in Italy so are looking to take a train somewhere close (within a hour to an hour in a half train ride) to Civitaveccia. We were thinking of going to Tarquinia but hear that the train station in Tarquinia is far from the actual city. So please answer two questions if you can. A) Where should we go? and B) How far away is the train station from the port in Civitaveccia? Thanks!

Pee tray training? (Answers: 3) (Comments: 0)
I'm moving from a house to an apartment and my dog has to be retrained from going to the garden to getting used to using an indoor pee tray. She is half trained at the moment and would only go to the pee tray when she can't on any longer. She used to pee in the garden 4 times a day and now, on average, she only uses the pee tray 2 twice a day and sometimes once a day. Would this affect her bladder in a long run?

My tea cup chi is half trained.We have her go on a pad in the bathroom,Sometimes she will go in there on her own and sometimes we have to still show her and sometimes she goes where ever she wants! We have had her for about 3 weeks.
Help! Its getting upsetting and I know it is NOT her fault.
I don't keep her in the bathroom.I keep her in a small crate, but not all the time,we hold her and let her sit on the couch and when she gets up we make her go potty on her pad,when she had dona a good job we let me down. sometimes she will go to the pad herself and sometimes NO.What should I do? I know I'm doing something wrong or should I just go on the way I am and hope she gets it?

My dog is a shih tzu - Cavalier king charles, and she is 8 months old. She is half trained to go pee outside, problem is, my mom wants her to be trained to go on these new pee mats she bought. I'mscared my mom might get rid of her ifshe keeps making messes around the house. Help!

How do I begin training my four week old puppy? (Answers: 17) (Comments: 0)
She is doing really well. She is a Shepherd and is going to be big I know and is a tiny little thing just now. So what is the best way to start the potty training? I have had experience housebreaking my dog I had before for 18 years but that was a while back and he was half trained when I got him. I got him from a friend that had to move and could not take him so he was already 6 months old. This little girl is tiny. Should I start with those pads I have seen? And there is one day a week when I cannot be here for very much at all. I have a daughter that will come and sit that day, have made arrangements already. So what advise should I give her? I am a new dad so any help is appreciated.
And to the kid that said she was gonna have mental problems...thanks a lot for that one. You know a good shrink since you have all this knowledge? Ya'll look. I tried to get the law to do something about this creep next to me. He has a female dog that he will not spay. He keeps the dog and when she gets pregnant, gives the puppies away. I saw him throwing one in the garbage a couple of days ago and went and got it out. I had a confrontation with the man when I called the cops later after someone told me here it was illegal for him to do that. End result, it was not illegal, his dog, his trash. I stole the dog from the trash!!! But I still have it and will go to court. I did slug the dude and will pay for it. Ya'll please don't be so mean. Help a dude out here.
Actually if you look at my two earlier questions, I have asked three, the first one was right after. I would not lie, don't do that. And the puppy was not four weeks but the vet said closer to three. I fed it and now have to go to court cause I have an assault charge. I did not know you guys could not see earlier questions and all. I am new here. I have had one dog before that lived to be 18 and to be honest, I am needing a lot of help and said I would come here cause people were so nice that first day. Those that first day helped me save the little girl's life. I am gald I did not come back and see the answers before that one that read my earlier question, but if you think I am lying go to the first question if you can. I was desperate that day. But I don't lie and that was a bit of an insult. I am sorry you deal with people who do. I don't. Where are those that helped before? I would have explained had I not known you could not see the earlier questions. I am not good on computers.
Oh Man, I have no trouble cleaning up. And my daughter wont either. I have been cleaning her little rump with a warm cotton ball as someone told me that the first question I asked. So I suppose I should just keep doing that a couple or three more weeks? She already thinks I am mama and I am a big dud...6'4" LOL... and got the muscle behind it too. But the little thing has tried to nurse on me. I sleep with her and I know that is not good but I fixed a place so I wont roll on her and I was told to keep her warm. The vet actually told me it was better for me to keep her since I had started than for him to try and put her there in one of those things they use. He said if he took her from me after the day I took care of her it could make it worse.
Already got the vets stuff scheduled. He gave me a book with these dates in it and said they would send me reminders. he took care of my dog I had for so long and was good. And I would never punish a dog for an accident. My main problem is my schedule and I am working that out. I jsut want to get the little girl to the age where I can take her with me and I know that will take time. I am a dog person so... After having the one for 18 years I could not leave this little thing to die.
AngelWolf...THANKS!!! And I am already calling her Angel cause she almost was one. My daughter said to keep it simple to two syllables. And as for expense...no problem but thanks. The only reason I could not get her to the vet that first day and the only reason I even saw what happened was the garage was picking my car up for a problem there and no one I knew was home. Most people I know work and travel so I just happened to be home that day. I have taken some days off just now, which is good I can do in my job. And money is not an issue. But I do thank you for the notes on that.
