Kawasaki 800 vulcan classic...running too lean?

recently bought a 99 vulcan 800 classic when you try to take off at low end it pops through the carb. and falls on its face also coming out of corners at low rpm it pops and spits throgh the carb. took carb. off it was spotless and replaced spark plugs no better. runs great at mid-high rpm runs better with choke on.. assume its lean ,only adjustable air screw is for idle will that cause this? if not any suggestions???

As mentioned, adjust the idle screw. Know that some Mikuni's adjust air and others fuel, you you may have to turn it in or out depending upon what it adjusts.

    Sounds like a problem with the low speed jet, also the carbs may need to be sycronized. Getting the carbs syncronized will tell alot.

    start it up and spray some w.d.40 around the intake boots and watch carefully to see if it gets sucked in and the idle picks up a little. if so its an air leak. take the bands off that attach the boots and carefully examine them for cracks. i assume that you have a stock exhaust system,if you have an afternarket exhaust and the fuel mix wasnt enrichened then thats your problem. there are screws to adjust the mixture they are coverd with a plug that you would have to drill out.

    its a diaphragm type carb, one carb supplies both cyls, remove and disassemble the carb, clean it, replace the diaphragm and make sure you have a size 50 pilot jet

    The air cut valve can be sticking or damaged.
    The air cut valve is used to control that exact symptom.

    Go to - your bike - Carburetor
    Remove cover # 14025 and inspect the valve - clean the carb's port with carb cleaner and check the valve for free movement.
    The cover has a passageway - spray carb cleaner through it, to ensure that it is not clogged.

    The fuel mixture screw may need to be adjusted 1 turn richer (counter clockwise).
    Mixture screw # 16014.
    The mixture screw is is blocked with a metal plug # 92066 - EPA regulations to prevent tampering.

    Directions to remove plug -
    Tap the center of the plug with a center punch.
    Slowly drill a pilot hole through the plug (1/32 or 1/16 drill bit).
    Be prepared to pull up on the drill, just as the bit pierces the plug (so you don't damage the screw).
    Step up the drill bit size enough that you can screw a sheet metal screw into and grab the plug.
    Pull it out with a pair of pliers (grab it with a pair of "vice grips" and hit the pliers).
    Blow out any metal shavings before turning the screw
