Best athletic/running sneakers?

I am looking for a good pair of sneakers. I'm 14 and lift in the weight room and am training for a 5K. What are the best running/over all athletic sneakers or brand you can recommend?

my favorite is saucony. but you really have to determine how you run. like pronation and stuff. other than that, it's a lot of personal preference. I find that i like shoes with a lot of cushioning and bounce, but you might like something firmer. i would jog a half mile and pay attention to how your feet move. remember it and then ask the people at the store for help picking out a good shoe.

P.S. if you plan on running this five k soon, skip the new shoes. never race with new shoes, b/c your feet will kill you. break them in slowly...

It depends on whether you have a neutral gait or over / under pronate. Have a look on the Runners World website which will help you. For running, I find Saucony, Asics and New Balance are great, but it is very IMPORTANT that you find out what your gait is first or else you could get shoes which cause all sorts of problems.

Im gonna agree with boom boom on this one. saucony, nb, and asics are great. my preference of the three is asics. you also may want to look at brooks or mizuno.
if you can, find a place locally the will fit you to your particular gait and stride. they can look at a pair of old shoes and how they are worn and they would be able to fit you to the shoe that will be best for you. that is definitely the best option.
