when i went to basic in 84, i weighed 229 lbs, out of shape, and dreaded it. it was my mistake for not doing anything before going in. after basic and AIT, i lost down to 168, and never felt better. even when i played football in high school, i was never in this good of shape. you will do a TON of pushups, at pt in the morning and when the drills think that the base is too high. there is a lot of stretching, calistenics, and running. we went from going a mile in our first week to eight when we got ready to graduate. we never lifted weights. our muscle building came in the form of rifle drills, carrying a ruck that weighed 40 or more lbs, marching everywhere we went, close combat drills, and the pt pit. you will be fed three good solid meals a day, intaking about 5-10,000 calories a day. dont' worry about that because you will burn it off in no time.
