Try just typing "motivational running quotes" into google and it comes up with many wonderful websites.

This one in particular has some inspirational running quotes:
    http://running.about.com/od/runninghumor…

I would also recommend listening to "Eye of the Tiger" (the Rocky theme tune), I don't know about you, but that song always gives me a bit of a boost when I'm at the gym.

    Hi There....

I like this, I believe it was Lance Armstrong.

“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever."

The reason I enjoy it so much is it is so true. My training last a couple of Tuesday's ago was 9 X200m off 90 seconds recovery but after 8 I was dead on my feet. I said to my training partners that I was out as I would not be able to continue with the target pace but they suggested I forget the clock, forget the target time and just complete the final rep'...jog if I have to!

Well I done the last rep and whilst it was not on target it was a half decent effort and I felt so good afterwards so not quitting. If I had stopped I would have been kicking myself all week for letting myself down!

A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.
A race is a work of art that people can look at and be affected in as many ways as they're capable of understanding.
To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement.
"Some people create with words, or with music, or with a brush and paints. I like to make something beautiful when I run. I like to make people stop and say, "I've never seen anyone run like that before." It's more then just a race, it's a style. It's doing something better then anyone else. It's being creative."
I don't just go out there and run. I like to give people watching something exciting.
Having a true faith is the most difficult thing in the world. Many will try to take it from you.
    -Steve Prefontaine

All of these are from Steve Prefontaine. I love them, and I hope they help.

Don't lose your motivation, keep going, here are a couple that motivates me:

I am fit, I am strong, I am an Athlete!

I run because I can, I can because I run

    I am wonder woman!

I know its tough sometimes especially when your running by yourself and doing 20+Kms. It helps to join the local running club and I do long runs with them, they are motivating too.

Steve prefontaine-American middle distance runner-"there may be men out there who can beat me... but they are goin to have to bleed to do it!"

sylvester stallone-rocky-"it ain't about how hard you can hit... it's about how hard you can get hit... and keep moving forward... how much you can take and keep moving forward!"

Me-"and when he gets to heaven, to saint peter he will tell, another soldier reporting for duty sir! I have done my time in hell!"

Eminem-the song "till i collapse!" -"sometime you get tired, you feel weak... but when you feel weak... you feel like you just wanna give up! But you gotta search within you! You gotta find that inner strenght and pull that **** outta you!! And get that motivation.. to not give up...to not give in... no matter how much you wanna fall flat on you face!"

    Sylvester stallone-rocky-"NO PAIN!! NO PAIN!!"

robert tepper-"there's no easy way out!! there's no shortcuts home!!"

Steve prefontaine-"I only wanna win if i know i've done my best!!! at the front, flat out until i have nothing left!!!"

"steve jones"-"If I am still standing at the end of the race, hit me with a board and knock me down, because that means I didn't run hard enough"

And if you wanna see a motivational movie... watch the film without limits!!!!! it's about steve prefontaine... and runner that the say felt no pain!

This is a clip and the last quote is in it!

"Points Of Authority" by Linkin Park:

"Forfeit the game, before somebody else takes you out of the frame, put your name to shame, cover up your face, you can't run a race, the pace is too fast it just wont last"

That one works with me it's like a reverse psychology thing.

"I wanted to be the best because she told me I could be."

"To give anything than your best is to sacrifice this gift."

"The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start."

"Someone may beat me. But they're going to have to bleed to do it."

Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.

If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it"

"Pain is just weakness leaving the body. It's not the size of the dog in the fight that matters, it's the size of fight in the dog! LOOK UP, GET UP, AND NEVER EVER GIVE UP! "

"There are two halves two a marathon-20 miles and 6.2 miles."

"It is within the physical capabilities of anyone who wants to run the distance. That's not to say it's easy; it isn't."

I really recommend you don't give up running- it's an amazing sport and nothing can beat the feeling you get at the end or when you realise how much you've improved. It doesn't matter if it's cross country or track.
